Breastfeeding biscuits!

I have made these biscuits loads over the past five months as they are really tasty and they really help with milk production. I found a basic recipe online and have adapted it over the months until I was happy with it.

You will need:

1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup self raising wholemeal flour
1 & 1/2 cup oats
1 egg
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons flaxseed
10-12 brewers yeast tablets crushed (do not substitute with a different type of yeast)
(You can get both brewers yeast tablets and flaxseed from health food shops or amazon-click the links below)
1/2 cup of your favourite biscuit ingredients (I use chocolate chips or Reese's peanut butter chips)

Method:

  • In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar then add the egg and vanilla. Mix well.
  • In a cup, combine the flaxseed and water - allow to sit for a few minutes before adding to the mix.
  • Add the flour, brewers yeast and flaxseed/water to the mixture and mix well.
  • Finally, stir in the oats and your favourite biscuit ingredient.
  • Make the biscuits and place them onto a lightly greased baking tray.
  • Bake for about 12 minutes.
Makes 10 decent sized biscuits.

My favourite biscuit ingredient! I got these from Tesco.
